Wala Wala Cafe Bar

Enter Wala Wala Cafe Bar - relaxed yet sophisticated in an inimitable way, where beer aficionados rejoice and where Singapore’s live music scene reigns. Set in Holland Village since 1993, the appeal of this Holland Village stalwart lies with its relaxed and as-simple-as-it-gets-chill vibe.

Be greeted by the unmistakable bright yellow backdrop of a bar, where the walls are lined with a diverse range of spirits and at the forefront – six taps of brew (Stella Artois, San Miguel, London Pride, Bitburger, Benediktiner and Singha), vie for your attention. With a solid selection of more than 30 bottled beers, including Magic Hat #9, a mysterious brew labelled as “not quite pale ale”; it is given a name #9 whose meaning is never revealed. Another beer to welcome back is Kwak amber ale, brewed and owned by the same family for 7 generations. The range of beers is a firm punctuation to the qualities on offer that entice regulars night after night at Wala Wala.

A two storey institution, one could soak up the atmosphere under the stars at the terrace which most draws one’s eye - where the crowd congregates with their drinks on a balmy night, either with their eyes glued to world sports broadcasted on the large LCD screens with a beer or mojito in hand, or indulge the grub with close friends, perhaps doing a little bit of people-watching while waiting for the bands to commence the live performances on level two.

An upbeat venue with an intimate setting, the upper level is a melting pot of performance genres that sees an eclectic presentation of pop, rock, soul, acoustic folk and sometimes grunge guaranteed to get your booty shaking and your heartbeat racing. Notable acts include Shirlyn & The UnXpected, Jack and Rai, Tabula, 53A with acoustic sessions taking centre-stage 7pm onwards every Monday to Friday.

The bill of fare looks westwards, and features the signature cast of pizzas, pastas, chicken wings, and more. Fresh to the menu list are must-trys: a popular starter is our Sliced Grilled Squid drizzled with olive oil, parsley & teriyaki sauce, it a refreshing addition beside our Calamari; an open face sandwich is our Seared Tuna on toasted focaccia with bacon, tomatoes & herbs; and a new main course is our Deep Fried Half Chicken seasoned with Italian herbs served with garlic white wine cream sauce & accompanied with mixed salad & tomatoes.

Open every day, Wala Wala Cafe Bar has a different experience depending on what you’re looking for and makes for a low-key evening out, with a little extra bustle on weekends. Already a favourite along the Lorong Mambong strip, we say come on over and be a part of the experience!
